The Geometry Tab

Objects can be edited directly, or in the Geometry Tab. Select one or more drawing objects to move, modify or perform other operations on them.

Open the Geometry Tab

When one or more objects are selected, the Geometry Tab shows their location, size and rotation. The object type is displayed. Additional special object settings, such as star tips and valleys, are revealed when available. Numeric input for object geometry, and available functions, are presented for the selected object(s).

When finished editing in the Geometry Tab, click onto the drawing canvas to reset focus back to the drawing.

Display Units

Drawing units (for example, centimeter or inches) are set in the Drawing Setup dialog. You can view either the drawing units, or points, for display in the Geometry Tab. Optionally, some values can be displayed as percent %. This is valuable, for example, if you want to resize an object by 50%.

Move Object X and Y Location

To reposition object(s), do one of the following:

  • With object(s) selected, use numeric input in the Geometry Tab ‘X Location’ and ‘Y Location’ settings to adjust size, or

Do one of the following:

  • Directly resize / scale shapes by dragging any of the object handles with the Select [s] tool.

HINT: Alternatively, check the ‘%’ box to resize by a percentage of object.

HINT: Click the lock icon open (or closed) to lock or unlock aspect ratio when changing object width and height.

Rotate Object(s)

Do one of the following:

  • With object(s) selected, use numeric input in the Geometry Tab rotation angle, or
  • Drag the popup Rotate control to the desired angle, or
  • Directly drag an object’s purple rotation handle with the Select [s] tool to rotate around their center point.

When finished editing in the Geometry Tab, click onto the drawing canvas to reset focus back on the drawing.

Lock/Unlock Object(s)

With the object(s) selected, click the ‘Lock’ icon to lock (or unlock) to prevent further editing of individual objects. Object handles will white-out and all settings will appear greyed-out (locked).
