Group Effects

Group effects are containers that hold other style components. Add the Group Effect, then drag a stroke or fill component into the group to nest it within the effect’s container. Special group effects, such as a blur, can be applied to individual or multiple style components grouped within a single effect.

Repeater Group Effect

Produces interesting 3-d visual effects by adding copies of the style component(s) in a stacked fashion under the original object.

Press the ‘+’ button, and choose ‘Repeater’ from the drop-down menu.

Drag a stroke or fill style component into the Repeater Group container. It will appear as nested within the group, indicated by an arrowed left sidebar. Repeat as desired.

The following properties can be edited for Repeater:

  1. NUMBER OF ADDITIONAL COPIES – Set the number of copies to be added to the stack.
  2. X OFFSET – Adjust the X offset and slide the stack in a distance and direction from the center of the object at the angle designated.
  3. Y OFFSET – Adjust the Y offset and slide the stack in a distance and direction from the center of the object at the angle designated
  4. X SCALE – Adjust the X scale (size) of the copies.e
  5. Y SCALE – Adjust the Y scale (size) of the copies.
  6. REVERSE – When checked, the Repeater effects are applied in reverse order.
  7. ROTATE – Adjust the rotation angle of each copy.
  8. RELATIVE ANGLE – When checked, the Repeater is calculated relative to the object’s angle.
  9. BLEND – When checked, each copy’s color is a blend between the original color and the blend color here (use the color-well to set color).

Blur Core Image Effect

Blurring effect applied to stroke and/or fill components placed within the group.

Press the ‘+’ button, and choose ‘Blur’ from the drop-down menu.

Drag an existing stroke or fill style component into the Blur container. It will appear as nested within the group, indicated by an arrowed left sidebar. Repeat as desired.

The following properties can be edited for Blur:

  1. Choose the desired Blur type:
    • GAUSSIAN BLUR – Produces a smooth blurring of stroke and/or fill components placed within the group.
    • BOX BLUR – Produces a “squarish” blurring of stroke and/or fill components placed within the group.
    • DISC BLUR – Produces a “disc-shaped” blurring of stroke and/or fill components placed within the group.
    • MOTION BLUR – Simulates movement in distance and direction in blurring stroke and/or fill components placed within the group.
    • ZOOM BLUR – Simulates the effect of zooming a camera in blurring stroke and/or fill components placed within the group.
  2. CLIPPING – Choose from ‘None’ for no clipping, ‘Inside’ to clip the visual blur to the inside of the centerline, or ‘Outside’ to clip the visual blur to the outside of the centerline.
  3. BLUR DISTANCE – Move the sliders to adjust the blur distance.
  4. ANGLE – Move the control to represent the blur angle (or direction) of movement. Applies to Zoom Blur.

HINT: To remove a style component from an Effects Group, drag the component out of the group.

Bloom Core Image Effect

Softens edges and applies a pleasant glow to stroke and/or fill components placed within the group.

  1. Press the ‘+’ button, and choose ‘Bloom’ from the drop-down menu.
  2. Press onto the title of an existing stroke or fill style component and drag it into the Bloom container. It will appear as nested within the group. Repeat with additional strokes and fills as desired. The following properties can be edited for Bloom:
    • INTENSITY – Move the sliders to adjust the intensity of the effect.
    • CLIPPING – Choose from ‘None’ for no clipping, ‘Inside’ to clip the visual blur to the inside of the centerline, or ‘Outside’ to clip the visual blur to the outside of the centerline.
    • BLUR DISTANCE – Move the sliders to adjust the blur distance.

HINT: To remove a style component from an Effects Group, drag the component out of the group.

Gloom Core Image Effect

Dulls the highlights of stroke and/or fill components placed within the group.

  1. Press the ‘+’ button, and choose ‘Gloom’ from the drop-down menu.
  2. Press onto the title of an existing stroke or fill style component and drag it into the Gloom container. It will appear as nested within the group. Repeat with additional strokes and fills as desired. The following properties can be edited for Gloom:
    • INTENSITY – Move the sliders to adjust the intensity of the effect.
    • CLIPPING – Choose from ‘None’ for no clipping, ‘Inside’ to clip the visual blur to the inside of the centerline, or ‘Outside’ to clip the visual blur to the outside of the centerline.
    • BLUR DISTANCE – Move the sliders to adjust the blur distance.
